Take your time
Days, weeks and years; they fly. Always. Which is usually a good thing. But don't forget to slow down every now and then. To see the full moon. To just walk around. Try something new. Or to spontaneously stay out far too long on that terrace with friends. Here we share our favourite ways of taking time in Amsterdam. The best things in life aren't things.
When the sun is out, there's only one thing to do: head for the water. One of the things we love about Amsterdam is how effortlessly nature and urban life come together. From peaceful canals to vibrant waterfronts, Amsterdam offers plenty of beautiful places to cool off, relax, and soak up the summer atmosphere.
Here are a few of our all-time favourite swimming spots:
- Weesperzijde – A local favourite where you can enjoy a refreshing swim along the Amstel before settling down at one of the nearby terraces.
- Marineterrein – A modern city oasis with crystal-clear water and a laid-back atmosphere, perfect for a sunny afternoon.
- Houthavens – An up-and-coming waterfront area where swimming and city views go hand in hand.
- Olympisch Stadion – A wonderful spot to unwind, surrounded by greenery and the rich history of Amsterdam's Olympic heritage.
- Strand IJburg – Amsterdam's urban beach, ideal for a relaxing day of swimming, sunbathing, and enjoying the summer vibe.
Our perfect summer plan? Pack your favourite bag with a towel, a good book, sunscreen, and a bottle of water. Take a refreshing dip, then end the day with a drink on a sunny terrace as the city slowly transitions into a warm summer evening.
Here's to long sunny days, effortless style, and making the most of summer in Amsterdam.
Enjoy your day.
Let's go out to swim and have a drink. Enjoy your day.
